When I was younger, I dreamed of writing a book.  From the plot to the characters to a major turn of events, I had a plan and knew one day, it would happen…  It didn’t.

Of course I write a lot today, (okay, I write every single day), it takes determination and a fantastic mindset to put your voice into a 500+ page hard bound book.  And that’s just what Anna Todd, author of the “After” series has. Anna Todd

Anna Todd, a 25-year-old military wife from Texas became a first-time writer when she combined her love of reading and the British boy band One Direction.  Todd never thought she would be an author, but when she found herself with lots of free time on her hands, she starting writing.  She wrote the  majority of After from her mobile phone through Wattpad, which is a free social reading and writing app (Todd can be found under the name Imaginator1D)  Anna has since extended the After story world beyond Wattpad, using Instagram and Twitter to share photos, videos, songs and art created by readers.  By 2014, Anna’s story had over 1 billion reads and more than 6 million comments!

The After series tells the story of Tessa Young, an optimistic freshman at Washington State University, and the dark, troubled British bad boy who has stolen her heart.  With his tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, tattoos, and lip ring, Hardin is cute and different from what she’s used to. But he’s also rude — to the point of cruelty, even. For all his attitude, Tessa should hate Hardin. And she does — until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss, it ignites within her a passion she’s never known before.

After series

After reading that, we have no doubt the One Direction inspired love story has been turned into a four-book series, which is published by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. After was released in October 2014; After We Collided was released in November, After We Fell was released in December, and the last book of the series, After Ever Happy will be available February 24, 2015.

But wait… fans of After will be excited to know that they can see the love story unfold on the big screen, because Paramount Pictures has acquired film rights to adapt the series that took the social Wattpad community — and the rest of the online world– by storm.  (A release date has not been set, but I’ll update when I know more!)

You can get your copy of After at Barnes & Noble in paperback or on your E-Reader.  You can also connect with Anna Todd on Wattpad as Imaginator1D, as well as on Twitter @Imaginator1Dx,  and Instagram at @Imaginator1D.
