I have a desire to help kids in need when I see the opportunity. Knowing I can help make a difference in a child’s life is priceless in my eyes, whether it’s through volunteering my time or by donation. I also look for ways to incorporate this into my children’s lives, too, so they can give back in ways we are able to do so. When I heard about the Champions for Kids program, I wanted to learn more!
Champions for Kids makes it simple to give children in local communities the resources they need to thrive by fostering a ‘habit of giving’ among youth and parents in America. Did you know that 9.8 million kids – more than ever before – get free or reduced price school breakfast on an average day, but 10.6 million eligible kids go without? Hunger has a huge effect on how a child performs at school. In fact, 9 out of 10 teachers say having a healthy breakfast is a key to academic achievement.
With the Champions for Kids program, you simply purchase and donate breakfast food items at your local participating Walmart from April 21 through May 5. If your Walmart store is participating, simply purchase breakfast foods and place them in the purple donation bins at the front of the store after you checkout. Take a look at this list to see if your store is participating!
SIMPLE Giving is a Champions for Kids program that makes it simple for you to help kids in your community. That’s right, all of the donations go to children in the school district where the Walmart store is located – isn’t that amazing?
Champions for Kids helps you come up with ideas for easy service projects right there on their site, and we’ll be talking more about those ideas at the upcoming #SIMPLEGiving Twitter Party on Thursday, April 24, at 1pm ET /12pm CT. Join me at this party by RSVP’ing today! By doing so, you will also be eligible to win one of five $50 gift cards!
