Every summer, I mark my calendar for Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-a, which is usually held in July. We dress like cows from head to toe, donning our spots, tails and mask – and in exchange, Chick-fil-a rewards us with a free meal. It’s a fun day to celebrate at one of our favorite restaurants. (And when I say favorite, I won’t mention that I chose the house we bought based on the location of both Chick-fil-a and Target. …nor will I mention the fact that I ate Chick-fil-a at least 3 times a week when I was pregnant.) Don’t judge me.
This year, Chick-fil-a is making a Cow Appreciation Day change, and to avoid confusion when you arrive at the restaurant, I’m going to tell you what to expect.
Let’s start off by noting the date of this year’s event. Cow Appreciation Day will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from opening until 7:00 PM. And according to an employee at my local Chick-fil-a, this means you can go for breakfast, again for lunch, then back for dinner, if you so choose. (Before, the event was held from open to close.)
Chick-fil-a Cow Appreciation Day Change
In the past, if you only wore one piece of cowlike attire, you received a free entree of your choice. For instance, you could go in wearing only a cow tail or only a cow mask, then choose your free item. If you were dressed from head to toe, meaning you wore the mask, spots on your clothes and a tail, you received the full meal.
But this year, everything changes. According to Chick-fil-a, they are simplifying the reward. In order to make the award more consistent for all and provide the highest guest experience, anyone wearing anything cowlike may select any breakfast, lunch or dinner entrée and kids dressed like a cow may select a Kid’s Meal.
Breakfast Entrée includes Chick-fil-A® Chicken Biscuit; Sausage Biscuit; Chick-n-Minis™ (3-count); Chicken or Sausage Breakfast Burrito; Chicken, Egg, and Cheese Bagel; or Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit. Breakfast items may not be served at all locations and are served during breakfast hours only.
Lunch or Dinner Entrée includes Chick-fil-A® Chicken Sandwich; Spicy Chicken Sandwich; Grilled Chicken Sandwich; Grilled Chicken Cool Wrap®; Chick-fil-A® Nuggets (8-count); Chick-fil-A® Grilled Nuggets (8-count); Chicken Salad Sandwich; Chick-n-Strips™ (3-count); Chick-fil-A® Grilled Market Salad; Chick-fil-A® Cobb Salad; Chick-fil-A® Spicy Southwest Salad; small hand-spun milkshake; Iced Coffee; Frosted Coffee or Frosted Lemonade.
I personally am glad they are considering a Frosted Coffee as an entree… just don’t tell my children! I could very well have that as a meal, but am excited about getting the Spicy Southwest Salad (with Avocado Lime dressing, of course!) But I could be biased to the salads there. We have more salad containers in our craft bin than we do glue. I love upcycling them into DIY projects!
This does not change my opinion of Chick-fil-a at all, and I hope it doesn’t change your thoughts on the company, either. Changes happen, and that’s okay – Remember to be grateful for the offering in the first place! I have nothing but respect for the employees who work at Chick-fil-a, because everyone knows they are always eager to help with a smile on their face and the words “my pleasure”.
Please share this information with your friends and family so everyone knows what to expect on the day of the event!
I like it! We don’t usually go because it’s SO crazy but maybe we’ll try it this year.
We love “cow day” as my kids call it. It is usually crowded that day, but so fun to see everyone in costume. Thanks for giving us a heads up about the changes.
