I noticed the calculations were already done for me. (See the white PER COUNT box at the bottom of the price tags.)
Here’s how the boxes were priced:
50 packets = 1.38, which is $0.0276 each
100 packets = 2.78, which is $0.0278 each
200 packets = 4.98, which is $0.0249 each
These aren’t huge differences in price, but it’s a good example. The 100 count boxes are slightly (yes, very very slightly) higher than the 50 count. In this case, you would never notice the difference. But sometimes you will see bigger differences, because we tend to think that bulk = savings. You may end up paying more per item or per ounce, without you realizing you are doing so. Just take out your calculator, and do some quick math to find the cheaper item!
*And just so we know:
Splenda at Albertson’s = $5.99
Sucralose at HEB = $2.78
….and I am sure my coffee will never notice the difference.
*And while I am price comparing:
McCormick Nutmeg at Albertson’s = $6.99
McCormick Nutmeg at HEB = $2.19
….yes, I almost passed out when I saw $6.99 for that little ‘ol container of nutmeg!
I've noticed that even with the "sales" on things like meat that they have at Alberson's, the price isn't all that great. You might buy one and get 2 free, like on the Tilapia this week, but the price for that one, 1 pound package is $9.99. I priced the same amount buying it individually at HEB and came out ahead.
