My children go crazy for anything that has to do with Mickey Mouse. (Or Minnie Mouse or Goofy, for that matter.) It’s safe to say we get excited for all things Disney. One of our favorite celebrations was a Disney theme, and it’s a given that if when that theme is selected for an upcoming party, Mom is sure to say “YES!” …and I always do!
One dessert to make for your #DisneySide celebrations is this easy Mickey Mouse treat. Even better? This treat is ready to serve in about 10 minutes!
Using a combination of Oreos, (large) marshmallows and a tub of vanilla frosting, this is simple enough for kids to make, too!
Start by placing a lollipop stick into the bottom of each Oreo cookie and place on a drying rack. (It’s easier to insert the stick in the Oreo before coating.) Next, cut each large marshmallow in half, creating 2 ears for Mickey’s head.
Take a dollop of the vanilla frosting and place into a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 5 seconds, which is enough to soften the frosting just enough to make a glue. Use a small amount of this “glue” to attach the ears to Mickey’s head. Let the ears dry for about 2 minutes, placing in the refrigerator, if necessary.
When the ears have dried, place each of the Mickey heads flat on the drying rack with a sheet of aluminum foil or wax paper underneath. Microwave the entire container of vanilla frosting (make sure all of the foil was removed from the top) for 10 seconds. Stir.
Slowly pour the melted frosting on top of the Mickey Mouse heads, letting the frosting drip down the sides, coating all sides. You will have to pour more than you think, but you will see how much it coats as you are pouring.
I like to coat about 4 Mickey Mouse heads then add sprinkles to each one. If you do more than 4, they start to dry and the sprinkles won’t stick. *If you want to coat both sides of this Mickey Mouse treat, you will have to let side 1 dry first, then flip to coat the other side, before adding sprinkles.
After you’ve added the sprinkles, let each Mickey Mouse treat dry completely before serving.
