With only a few weeks until Christmas, I was starting to struggle with the perfect gift to buy for my nephew. He recently expressed an interest in two things: cards and all things Minecraft. I decided to take my daughter to Gamestop to help me look at the hot items of the season, when we decided to check out the new Gameband for Minecraft. My daughter begged me to bring it the checkout counter, and we did!
I had a vague idea of what Minecraft was, other than it’s a game my children could play every single day! This was my children’s opportunity to teach me… and teach me they did! I learned that in Minecraft, players build structures alone or as a multi-player game. It can be played in either Creative Mode or Survival Mode and it’s hard to put down after you start playing. Even after fifteen minutes, I didn’t want to stop! The struggle is real!
After another ten minutes of learning, we couldn’t wait to connect the Gameband to the computer, where we found out the Gameband was pre-loaded with maps from Sethbling, Hypixel and Dragonz. We also noticed the Gameband was shipped with PixelFurnace, which is an App that lets you customize your Gameband with messages, images and animations that you create and share on the PixelFurnace site.
The progress from your game on the computer is automatically transferred to the Gameband, which meant my daughter was over the moon that he could save his worlds and back everything up on a secure, cloud-based server. It was great to see that even if the Gameband gets lost, we could order a replacement with all the data re-stored! That’s peace of mind for Mom and child!
The Minecraft Gameband was on the Mobile Gaming Electronics shelf at Gamestop and is sold separately from the game. My local Gamestop only had one display left on the shelf – the employee said they are leaving the store like hot cakes, which tells me it will be the perfect gift for any 8-15 year old. Who wouldn’t like to find this gameband in their stocking on Christmas morning?
Gameband belongs to Now Computing and is affiliated with Minecraft. If you have feedback regarding Gameband once you purchase it, feel free to reach out to Now Computing so they can help you out!
I love that your daughter insisted you get this for your nephew. It sounds like she knows what he would like – and that she may end up co-opting the Gameband for herself! #client
