George Strait‘s 2014 Cowboy Rides Away Tour dates were revealed this morning, September 9, during a press conference at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX. The Cowboy Rides Away Tour will be the final tour for Strait, beginning on January 9, 2014 and ending in Dallas, Texas on a date to be determined.
George Strait announced the tour would include 26 shows, including 23 in arenas and 3 in stadiums. Louis Messina, president and CEO of the Messina Group, announced there would be a different opening act for each week of shows. On the list are superstars Martina McBride, Jason Aldean, Sheryl Crow, Ronnie Dunn, Vince Gill, Eric Church, Lee Ann Womack, Miranda Lambert, Merle Haggard and Chris Young. It’s not yet clear which artists will open which shows.
“It’s gonna be a little bittersweet for me. It’s starting to sink in now after the first leg of the tour, it’s sinking in a little more and more every day.” “My plan is to keep doing things here and there when I feel like it and hopefully there’s opportunities that come along for me because I can’t see hanging it up for good, ever. As long as I’m enjoying it, I’m gonna keep doing it.” – George Strait
Tickets for the #CowboyRidesAway tour will go on sale to the general public in select markets on September 27 at 10AM, local time.
When asked, George Strait said some of his favorite songs to sing live are “Amarillo By Morning”, “Trubadour” and “I’ll Always Remember You”, though there are many.
George Strait also added that he recently signed a five-album deal with MCA Records, the only record label he’s ever been on. I can’t wait to hear his next album!
