With the recent birth of my fourth child, I do a lot of reading, whether online or in print. I recently read a statistic that stopped me in my tracks: some families don’t have enough diapers to keep their babies clean. As I was taken back, I realized just how much that sentence opened my eyes and my heart, and I’m going to tell you how Huggies is helping to change that.
Huggies is helping to bring attention to the need for babies to have access to enough diapers, and encouraging everyone to donate, if possible. They have even taken it one step further, by allowing you to donate your Huggies Rewards Points to the cause. I am super excited about this initiative, and am donating in my husband’s name for Father’s Day!
Diaper need garnered national attention from the White House earlier this year when President Obama called for companies to help the 1 in 3 families that don’t have enough diapers to keep their babies clean and healthy. After the President’s call to action, the National Diaper Bank Network (NDBN) saw an immediate uptick in online donations, which increased by 500%within two weeks.
This Father’s Day, Huggies is continuing to combat diaper need and donating 22 million wipes to the NDBN, which is a matching donation to the 22 million diapers donated earlier this year. Along with diapers, cleansing products like wipes are an important basic need for families and the second most commonly distributed item among NDBN member diaper banks around the country.
To help fight diaper need, consumers can donate their Huggies rewards points, earned from purchasing Huggies Diapers and Wipes, to the NDBN, or can donate diapers and wipes to their local diaper bank. I like the idea of having a diaper drive in your neighborhood or through your local organization!
