I just read that TLC’s Extreme Couponing has been renewed for a second season. Ugh. I just don’t understand WHY!?
I honestly feel like the show has given shoppers a false sense of what couponing is really about, and what they should expect. (Don’t get me wrong….there are a few shoppers on the show that are completely honest and realistic. Props to them!)
I will never ever understand why someone needs 1000 boxes of pasta. 10, yes. 1000, no.
I tried to purchase 8 cases of Powerade at our local Kroger. The manager told me he could not allow it. SO, that right there says the show is “made up”. I was told I could purchase up to two cases. I suppose if I didn’t have a coupon for them I could have purchased all 8? I have no clue.
So with another season, I leave you with this:
– don’t believe everything you see on the show.
– don’t purchase items you can’t use within a year or two. And leave items on the shelf for others!
– don’t get discouraged when you don’t save 90% at the store. 25% is a great start, and you will grow from there!
