Moving to Texas from Louisiana brought several things including heat, the state fair and a Hatch Chile Fest! Little did I know that the hatch chile would soon be one of my favorite things to look at Market Street during the summer months!
Hatch Chiles, from the Hatch Valley in New Mexico, are available for a short time in August/September each year. This chile doesn’t pack a huge amount of heat, but does have a kick to look forward to. The Hatch Chile is used in a variety of recipes, from burgers to mac & cheese to sausage to muffins to wine! Many of these selections are available at your local Market Street, or ready to be prepared with the delicious recipes on Market Street’s Hatch Chile Recipe Pinterest Board. (I can’t wait to get to the store to try the hatch guacamole and to get on pinterest to make the cornbread!)
Right now, you can head over to your local Market Street to take part in the Hatch Chile Fest! You will likely see chile roastings, chile samples and chiles on sale! Even better? Market Street is currently offering free roastings for any fresh Hatch Chile purchase made on August 16 – 17 and from August 23 – 24!
