What better way to bring in the New Year than by performing Random Acts of Kindness with children. Random Acts of Kindness bring smiles to both the giver and the receiver’s face, and that, in itself, makes it all worth it!
Next week, a friend and I will be taking our children to perform Random Acts of Kindness over their school break. Here is a list of the things I will have my children do:
– deliver hand drawn cards/pictures to a nursing home
– put $1 on a gift card at Target and hand it to someone in line
– put $1.25 in a ziploc and tape it (and a note) to a coke machine
– buy coffee for the car behind you at the coffee shop
– leave a stamp and a note in a ziploc by the mailbox, inside the post office
– arrange a day to paint fingernails at a local nursing home
– hand out balloons with happy notes attached to strangers who pass by at a shopping center
– find a busy store and open the door for everyone who enters/exits (for 10 minutes)
– return shopping carts for ten customers
– make a “thank you” poster for someone and hang it in a (public) place where they will see it
– write a note about a great employee and hand it to the manager

– leave bubbles with a note hidden in a busy park for kids to find
– leave $1 in the toy section at Dollar Tree
– tape quarters with a note under the kids of washing machines at a laundry ma
– give flowers to receptionists at your doctors office
– leave coloring books and crayons at a haircut establishment
– put inspirational quotes under windshield wipers on cars in a parking lot
– leave coupons for free QT drinks for your garbage men
– make a snack pack for your mail man

This is a fantastic list! And I love the idea. It’s a great way to teach compassion by example. I like the idea of taping money with notes to things, I bet my daughter would love to spread that around 🙂
