Campus Book Rentals School Supply Challenge

Dawn Monroe Leave a Comment

I like to help others when I can.  Big or small, we can each do something to make someone’s life easier.  I was recently selected to participate in a School Supply Challenge, sponsored by Campus Book Rentals.  I was given a mission to purchase as many school supplies as possible, with $25.  Since the school supplies I purchase would be donated to an individual or charity, I knew I had to do good and step it up!

Campus Book Rentals is a company that offers students up to 90% off their textbooks! It not only allows students to save money, it helps students make money by providing services for students to rent out their textbooks to other students. Campus Book Rentals has been around since 2007, and continues to help students live a more affordable life. Campus Book Rentals is proud to sponsor such an amazing pay it forward event!

In Burleson, there is a Little Red Schoolhouse program, which helps provide school supplies for children in need.  Lots of our stores have boxes set up for donations, too.  It’s easy to find a school supply list online and purchase items from the list.  Most stores have the school lists printed and available in front of the store, too.

Though many stores have sales on school supplies right now, you can price match local store advertisements at WalMart and Target, so that’s where we headed!

I was able to get:

  • (6) Folders with prongs and pockets, $0.15 each
  • Bic 10 pack pens, $0.99/pack – used a $1 off coupon to get them FREE!
  • #2 pencils, $0.01/pack
  • (2) Filler Paper, $0.25 each
  • (2) Crayola Crayons, $0.50 each
  • (2) Composition notebooks, $0.50 each
  • Construction Paper, $2.00 each
  • Crayola Markers, $0.50 each
  • (2) Bottles of Glue, $0.25 each
  • (2) Manila Paper, $1.50 each
  • Pencil Case, $0.50 each
  • (2) Index Cards, $0.40/pack
  • Blunt Scissors, $0.50 each
  • Sandwich Keeper, $1.00 each
  • Lunch bag, $2.75
  • School bag, $10.00

Total:  (get ready for this) $24.50

I was under budget, so I went back to grab another box of crayons, making my total exactly $25.00!  Because I shopped on Tax Free Weekend, that was an additional savings on my end, too!  When we got home, I added in more school supplies from my stock pile, and since I am a Boogie Wipes Ambassador, I added in lots of Boogie Wipes, as well!

This bag of school supplies will help a young student have a great year, and I couldn’t be more happy to help!
