There are two things my 10 year old would choose to do every summer: Go to Sky Ranch and spend every day at Hawaiian Falls water park. (True Story.) When I learned that Sky Ranch offered a day camp at our local Hawaiian Falls, it was like someone had read my mind. I couldn’t wait to sign Logan up and surprise him with a fun and exciting week!
But fun and exciting were guaranteed from the sign-up. We ended up with so much more.
Sky Ranch Wave Camp is a combination of Sky Ranch Christian based camp programs and and amazing day (cooling off) at the water park. It’s designed to help children build character, strengthen their faith, learn fun songs, make new friends and enjoy some private time at the water park.
My son couldn’t wait to tell me about the exclusive time on the water slides, their time in the “cabin” and learning the rules for the week. I loved how the camp was small and secure. I think there were 2 counselors for every 3 children, which really helped to ease my mind about leaving my son with a few strangers for the day. We were required to check Logan in each day and show our ID to pick him up in the afternoon.
Logan told me about a few of the games and activities, such as foam GaGa Ball, Water Twister (Swister) and Order Up — and this was all before lunch! I appreciated the fact that lunch was provided each day, and the parents knew exactly what was going to be served. The children also received an afternoon snack before a few more activities and pick-up.
But the best part? Logan had a designated bright orange shirt to wear each day at camp (provided), so he could easily be identified in the park. The shirt also helped shield him from the 102 degree sun, meaning less chances of sunburn! *I applied sunscreen each morning, and the counselors would re-apply during the day! I also had to pack a water bottle, which was refilled as-needed to keep the campers hydrated.
It’s definitely a camp we will sign up for again! I did have concerns with sending my soon-to-be 6 year old, so I asked the counselor about it. She said on day 1, each child is secretly given a swim test to test their abilities. Each child is then given a bracelet based on the results. Green means they are good to go, while red means “watch me extra carefully”, even though each child is carefully guarded through the day. It made perfect sense, and I absolutely loved that the children didn’t even know they were being tested!
