The Sound of Music has always been one of my favorite movies to watch, so when I found out the 2015 Broadway series at Casa Mañana was going to be kicked off with this production, I was beyond excited!
And excited you should be, too! Thru September 28, you can sing along with Maria (Marissa McGowan) as she is sent to serve as governess for the seven children of a strict naval Captain (Jarrod Emick). I don’t want to spoil the show, but you’ll grin in awe as Maria slowly begins to form a lasting bond with those seven children and ultimately captures the heart of the once strict Captain. You may even find yourself singing along with the well-known songs including “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and more.
I took a few girlfriends to see the show, and we each had moments of singing, wiping away tears and smiling from ear to ear… I’m sure everyone else in the audience did, too! The Sound of Music is a must-see!
Ticket holders ranged from children to adults, as this show is suitable for all audiences. The Sound of Music is 2.5 hours, with a 20 minute intermission.
