As the Trinity River Vision Authority prepares for its second float along the Trinity River this week, a New Braunfels tubing company is continuing to look into bringing its operation to Fort Worth.
Rockin’ R River Rides scouted locations along the Clear and West forks of the Trinity River this month and still sees potential in tubing on the Trinity.
“I think there are definitely possibilities,” Rockin’ R spokesman Shane Wolf said. “We are continuing to explore it.”
Within several weeks, Rockin’ R will meet with officials from the Trinity River Vision and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to talk about flow rates and other issues.
Those flows might require a tubing operation to move between the forks. And some areas might be more suitable to canoes or kayaks than tubes.
“But I think the demand is there,” Wolf said. “You’ve got millions of people nearby and a lot of them want to get on the water.”
In the meantime, tubing enthusiasts will get another chance to float the Trinity at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Trinity Park.
The first tubing event, in August, drew statewide attention. This one will take place next to the Cowtown Wakepark and will include wakeboard demonstrations.
There is no cap on the number of participants for Thursday’s float, but those who want to take part must RSVP today (Monday, September 13, 2010) to 817-698-0700 or Shelby.Lyon@trinityrivervision.org.
