I love to bake! Our favorite thing to do, to prepare for the holidays or birthday parties, is bake cookies! When it’s too cold to go outside, we love to get creative and have some warm (and yummy) fun inside!
I normally use butter in my recipes, but Unilever challenged me to use one of their soft spreads instead of butter to see if I liked it as much (if not better)!
With a wide variety of soft spreads, including Country Crock, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!, Promise, Brummel & Brown, and Imperial – Unilever has a spread for you. Unilever recently launched a new initiative called “Good to Know”- to educate consumers about the health benefits of their spreads vs. using butter. Best of all, all of their spreads are Good to Know because they:
- Have 0g trans fat per serving
- Contain no partially hydrogenated oils
- Have no cholesterol
- Are 70% less fat than butter per serving
- Have 30% fewer calories than butter per serving
Unilever sent me a gift basket filled with items to help me bake one of their recipes using a spread rather than butter. I chose to make Anytime Sugar Cookies, because anytime is indeed a good time to bake cookies!
Here are a few other recipes they sent, if you are looking to try something new this year:
The “Good to Know” baking set I received included a Silpat baking sheet liner, a non-stick baking sheet, a cooling rack, a stainless steel cookie dough scoop and a gift card (I purchased some I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter spread and ingredients for the cookies).
While there was no baking in this house this Christmas or New Year (we were sick, sick, sick!), I am looking forward to baking delicious Valentine’s Day cookies with my children!
Giveaway: Unliever wants to send one The Frugal Mom reader a “Good to Know” baking set, too!
