I’ve been talking about Muppets Most Wanted all week, and I know some of you just can’t wait to get to the theater to see it! The good news? It’s in theaters today, so your wait is over!
If you are a Muppets fan, you’re going to appreciate the fun humor these Muppets can easily provide! After watching Muppets Most Wanted twice now, I can almost promise you’ll leave the theater wanting another sequel to this sequel!
The movie starts with an opening song, in which Kermit sings, “We’re doing a sequel. There is no need to disguise – the studio considers us a viable franchise. We’re doing a sequel – how hard can it be? We can’t do any worse than Godfather 3.”. …But even though The Muppets put it out there that this film might not be as good as the first, in my opinion, it was just as good as the 2011 feature, The Muppets.
With Nicholas Stoller and director, James Bobin working on the film, Bret McKenzie’s songwriting compliments the humor and fun that Kermit, Miss Piggy, Constantine and the rest of The Muppets can provide. Then you add in Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey and Ty Burrell… it’s one movie your children will love!
Dominic Badguy (pronounced “Bad-gee” since he’s French) offers to manage the Muppets in their first world tour. This world tour, however, is only a cover for Dominic and his partner in crime, Constantine – who looks exactly like Kermit, with the addition of a villain’s attitude and a mole on his cheek. It can be hard to tell the two apart!
And with that said, telling the two apart can cause a bit of mistaken identity, forcing the wrong muppet to be sent to the gulag to face a nasty prison guard, Nayda, while the other steals priceless art and breaks into a museum, causing ruckus all Europe and aiming for the goal – to steal the Crown Jewels.
As you watch the film, make sure you keep an eye open for many celebrities, who show up where you least expect them. Your children might not pick up on Usher, Celine Dion, Stanley Tucci, Ray Liota or Josh Groban, but adults will recognize them from the moment they make an appearance.
And, after reading my interview with Kermit, Miss Piggy and Constantine, (where I share a picture of Miss Piggy’s wedding dress) I’ve been asked (by many of my readers) if Kermit and Miss Piggy finally get married… you’ll have to see the film to find out, because I’m not giving any spoilers!
