I appreciated the fact that downtown McKinney offers what is known as the McKinney Square.  From shopping to dining to relaxing and having fun, if you’re looking for the perfect date night, this is the place to be!

The best way to start any date is with dinner, and I can not say enough good things about SugarBacon.  This restaurant is located right off Virginia Street, and according to the website, offers New American eats with a Southern flair, plus cocktails, beer & wine and comfy digs.

…But they offer more than that.  The service was amazing from the moment we walked through the front door.  Hearing the server describe each menu item made my mouth water.  When the food was delivered, I couldn’t wait to dig in!  Just look at their signature item, perfectly called SugarBacon.

That’s house-smoked pork belly, ancho BBQ sauce and bread & butter pickles, plated as a starter, though I could totally eat this for lunch!  For my meal, I went with the tender pulled pork sandwich and knew I made the right choice!

Entertainment

Also located on Virginia Street, you’ll find shops, wineries, dessert stops and a comedy club.  Whether you choose to browse and walk, partake in a wine tasting, listen to live music or visit the comedy club, you can’t go wrong with your decision.

We visited The Comedy Arena and laughed out loud at the stand-up comedians.  This is a BYOB venue, offering few concessions inside.  The Comedy Arena has two shows on the weekends, with family friendly content at 8pm and an adult -rated show at 10pm.

Accommodations

The historic Grand Hotel is filled with elegance and comfort, and located right off the square on Louisiana Street.

The Grand Hotel has a great breakfast, served via room service.  I was impressed with the staff, decor, offering of nightly turn-down service and southern charm.
