I like to take the weekends easy. It’s my time to relax, spend time with my family and watch a few games on tv. I surely don’t want to spend a game day stressing in the kitchen, so I look for easy ways to get dinner on the table in just a few minutes; whether that means leftovers, freezer meals or my go-to Asian salad.
My husband and I are trying to make healthy choices, so I try to get fruits and vegetables in whenever possible. When I went to Walmart for salad ingredients, I noticed crispy boneless wings right at the Walmart Hot Deli counter! They are only $10 for a bucket of 20, and I knew they would be perfect to incorporate into an easy meal!
I picked up all the ingredients for an Asian salad: kale, carrots, cabbage, cranberries, pecans and General Tso’s boneless wings from the deli counter.
I loved how the wings were ready when I was, and when I got home, all I had to do was wash the ingredients and prepare the salad. It was rather easy, first dicing the kale and then shredding carrots and cabbage. (Make sure you remove the stem from the kale before chopping.) You can even buy a bag of coleslaw mix to add to the kale for even less prep work! The last step is to dice the boneless wings, then add them to the salad, along with your favorite Asian dressing, before garnishing with the dried cranberries and pecans!
In 5 minutes, you are left with this beautiful Asian salad that is sure to be a hit with your family.
I like that I can customize the salad for my children’s liking. I have a son who doesn’t like raw cabbage, so we can leave that out of his plate. I can even order the 20 wings in the flavor combinations of my choice. So if the General Tso flavor is too spicy, I can get BBQ boneless wings for him, and they are perfect!
This salad is also good the next day, if you have any left! My daughter likes to pack Asian salad for lunch, and I’m sure she’s the envy of other students because it looks as good as it tastes!
