One of the great things about living in the Dallas area is that you don’t have to travel far for a little Staycation. Sometimes, you simply need to look in your “backyard” to find ways to relax this summer.
I recently booked a room at the Gaylord Texan, which is located in Grapevine, TX. Since Grapevine is the city for wine, restaurants and travel accommodations, there’s no doubt FUN and BEAUTIFUL would fit in the description, too. And it does.
From the moment you pull up to the Gaylord Texan, you are treated as a guest and not just a customer. With over 1,511 guest rooms, I can almost bet that every single guest checks out with a smile. And I’m also willing to bet the impeccable atrium view plays a part in that, too. I could have stayed in the atrium for hours, just soaking everything in.
As beautiful as our room was, we didn’t spend too much time in the room because there are so many other things to see and do at the Gaylord! We found our way to dinner at one of the many restaurants located within the hotel. You can choose from Old Hickory Steakhouse, Zeppole Coastal Italian, Texan Station or Riverwalk Cantina, which is were we ate. The river is calming and the food was delish! *Don’t forget to get your parking ticket validated if you spend $25 or more in the hotel restaurants!
With over 400,000 sq. ft. of total meeting space, The Gaylord Texan is perfect for conventions, meetings, weddings and more! The nighttime crowd will enjoy creative cocktails and club cuisine along with live nightly entertainment at the Glass Cactus Nightclub, which is located on the lake of the hotel. The state-of-the-art sound stage showcases top-named national talent, along with the best local and regional touring acts.
We caught a great view of the Glass Cactus Nightclub when we made our way to the hotel’s parking garage for Friday Night Summer Bash Fireworks! This was such a great treat, and my children loved the music and view!
As part of Grapevine’s Summer Bash, you can catch strolling entertainers throughout the Gaylord on the weekend (times vary). We saw a balloon artist, a gold cowboy and a BIG cowboy on the way to our room Friday.
On Saturday, we made our way to Paradise Springs, the resorts exclusive waterpark! My children had a great time, and it was hard to leave the resort that afternoon. I had to promise we would be back soon… and we will be!
