Remember when I went to Los Angeles a few months ago? While there, I had the chance to tour the set of General Hospital – yes, THE General Hospital in the town of Port Charles! Having a few family members who are big soap opera fans, I know how much my twitter and facebook pages blew up with all the fun pictures from that day, so I’m excited to share them again!
General Hospital celebrated it’s 50th anniversary on April 1, 2013 and continues to awe it’s fans every week day on ABC. I was definitely in awe as we toured the set, before heading off to tour the Grey + Sloan Hospital at Grey’s Anatomy.
The day started in a room filled with General Hospital memorabilia from the past 50 years. It was great to see ball gowns, case files, badges, props and other items used while filming.
We then visited the set where we met a few of the General Hospital actors, as well as the Executive Producer, Frank Valentini. We walked around the Nurses’ station, the Police station and the Interrogation room before I found myself getting an impromptu ultrasound. It was fun to see a baby moving on the screen, knowing there was no baby in my belly. (*Melanie is actually the one who is pregnant in this picture! Our roles needed to switch!)
We also spoke to Emme Rylan who showed us her amazing dressing room! She puts the craft in crafty! (And even though I have pictures of her dressing room, I won’t post them because that’s her private space. I will tell you that we had a sneak peek at the items she’s making for the Emme Rylan Etsy shop – so make sure you check it out!)

Port Charles will once again hold the iconic Nurses Ball gala, a fundraiser for HIV and AIDS awareness and research. As the Nurses Ball 2014 begins, several popular Port Charles residents will be noticeably absent from the Red Carpet and stuck at home watching the festivities on TV. Old and new loves will percolate while others find themselves in awkward situations. Amidst all the romantic drama, the never-dull Nurses Ball audience will be entertained with fun performances and sexy surprises. The Nurses Ball episodes air May 8 through May 13.
