I am glad to live near a city I admire, one with fantastic attractions, huge opportunities and great wine: Grapevine, Texas.
That’s right. I said great wine and Grapevine in the same sentence. And I mean it. I was excited to receive an invitation to the Grapevine Wine Tour, where I found an abundance of friends and information. For instance, I had no idea Texas was the fourth largest wine producing state. This might be the reason I moved here.
The Grapevine Wine Tour is four hours of wine tasting and dinner, visiting vineyards and relaxing with friends. The tour is available for both lunch and dinner, and includes a visit to two wineries in Grapevine, wine tastings and a three-course meal, with transportation by shuttle, of course. Also included in the tour are taxes and gratuities. Extra expenses may include additional wine or items in retail shops.
On our tour, we visited the Homestead Winery, Delaney Vineyards and Winewood Grill for dinner. It was amazing.
At the Homestead Winery, which is located in historic downtown Grapevine, they offered a huge variety of unique wines to choose from. It was interesting to hear the stories behind each wine and to learn what items pair best with each.
We then made our way to Delaney Vineyards, which was not only beautiful on the inside, but flourishing with grapes in the vineyard outside! We were able to catch a glimpse at the fermentation and bottling process before continuing with a few tastings. Wine that pairs well with chocolate anyone? Yes, please.
Dinner was at Winewood Grill, which drew me in from the aroma outside. I ordered a market salad, the pork ribs and a brookie for desert. (Brookie = a brownie, with a chocolate chip cookie baked inside, topped with whipped cream = the best!) I am sure we will be back to this restaurant, because the pork ribs were that good. Trust me.
Tours are available for parties of four or more, and are perfect for date nights, birthdays, bachelorette parties and corporate events.
A Grapevine Wine Tour is $79.50 for lunch, $89.50 for dinner. Tours can be booked online at http://grapevinewinetours.com or by calling 817-259-WINE. Make sure you use the code: BLOG10 to save 10% on lunch and dinner tours, through 9/1/14.

Hi Dawn,
Thank you SO MUCH for your recommendation to give Delaney Vineyards a try. My husband and I LOVED it and can’t wait to go back. I’ll be adding a long blog post about it, with great pictures in the coming month on my website. As soon as they’re up, I’ll drop you an email.
Sincerely,
Sarah
I did not expect Texas to be such a big wine producing state, as I thought it was too hot?
