My daughter loves to make slime! I can not tell you how many bottles of glue we’ve gone through in the last few months – It’s simple to make, easy to clean up and incorporates a little science as you watch the ingredients react to one another!  Since we’ve made fluffy slime about 100 times, we decided to experiment with butter slime.  This slime isn’t sticky, and more like a play-dough or soft clay.

Our recipe for butter slime uses only 4 ingredients: corn starch, food coloring, shampoo and cooking oil!

Directions:

Mix the corn starch, shampoo and food coloring (if necessary) in a bowl. Fold the ingredients together and add in the vegetable oil.  Combine these together, adding more corn starch as needed (up to 1/2 cup.)

Watch as the products incorporate and come together to make a fun butter slime!

Tips:

 – I’ve read you can also add in a few drops of hand lotion to make the slime silkier.  I have not tried this, though!
 – I like to use a nice, scented shampoo so the slime smells.  Herbal Essence is our favorite, though there are so many different products you could try!
