I received an all expenses paid trip to Los Angeles for the coverage of several events for Disney’s Tomorrowland. All opinions are 100% my own.
I held an Oscar. You read that right. Just saying those words brings me to an emotional happy grin. …But wait. It wasn’t just any Oscar. I held an award that was presented to the one and only Walt Disney.
Earlier this month, I flew to Los Angeles, where I found myself on an exclusive tour inside the Walt Disney Archives! An experience one can only dream of, being closed to the general public, and we did it!
One of the first things we saw was this broom from my favorite film ever: Mary Poppins.
We also saw Annette Funicello’s Mouse Ears from the Mickey Mouse Club!
But as my heart beat faster, I knew the best was yet to come.
The Disney Archivist, Kevin Kern, demonstrated a great care, pride and knowledge of the artifacts he shared with us. He was gleaming when he spoke about this parking pass from the Disneyland Premiere, and there is no one who could blame him! This was a pleasure to see!
…of course this ticket was not to be outdone by the very first Disneyland ticket, which is carefully stored in a case and protective pouch.
With my everlasting love for all things Disney, my heart was happy. Though things only got a little better. Kevin then showed us artifacts from It’s A Small World and The World’s Fair, knowing how they tied into the Tomorrowland film.
Here’s my picture of one of the original dolls displayed at the World’s Fair, right from It’s A Small World:
And a table of pamphlets, books and pins from The World’s Fair. But I know what you’re eying among all this memorabilia…
The same pin that I was eying. Oh yeah. It was my first glimpse at THAT pin.
THE pin. Do you realize Tomorrowland will be in theaters THIS WEEK? You can read all about my interview with George Clooney and Britt Robertson before buying your tickets!
