Disclosure: I was provided with a 2013 Kia Optima for the duration of one week, to facilitate this review. No other compensation was received.  All opinions are 100% my own.

Over the summer, my family planned a trip to Louisiana.  I was excited to give my van a break and drive the 2013 Kia Optima for the trip.

Kia Optima

The Kia Optima promises outstanding performance, a luxurious cabin, numerous features for entertainment and safety all within a stylish profile that really turns heads.  And turn heads it did!

During my week with the Kia Optima, we encountered different driving conditions, including cruising along the interstate, daily errand running and afternoon traffic jams.  The Optima handles all conditions seamlessly, and it felt good to put this vehicle to the test.

The Optima has all the bells and whistles, at a price that is affordable.  My family enjoyed the Sirius Radio, the heated and air-conditioned seats, the panoramic sun roof and the push button start.  I also found the backup camera and driver’s seat memory to be very appreciated.  You set the seat to your customization, and it will reset each time the driver gets in!  Since I am short, that’s a huge plus for me!

Another plus – the Optima has great gas mileage!  It gets 34 MPG on the highway and 22 MPG in the city!  These stats, along with many others, are easily found on the eco guide display, which encourages efficient driving.

We traveled several hours with three children buckled in the back seat.  My children were close together, but not on top of each other, which helped to eliminate the “excessive” touching.  The fun panoramic sun roof and children’s station on the SIRUS radio helped, too!  (Did I mention the heated seats in the back of the vehicle, too?)

I tell my friends about the Kia Optima, and have put it on my wish list.  The features, warranty and mileage all combine to make the vehicle I want to drive!

What feature do you look for in a vehicle?

  1. Ooooh, air conditioned seats. I want that feature in my next car, for sure (and I couldn’t live without heated seats…so I imagine I will love air-conditioned ones, too). The Kia Optima is a pretty car, too!

  2. I look at comfort, price & mpg. The Optima is certainly on my “must test-drive” list!

  3. I have been thinking about getting a Kia Optima. Thank you for sharing this information. I will love the a/c seats!!
