Some of my favorite shows on tv right now include Grey’s Anatomy, Trophy Wife, Resurrection and The Middle. My husband and I have also started watching Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and The Goldbergs. When I say ABC has my attention, I really mean they have my attention!
When I was told my press trip to Los Angeles would include a Moms of ABC tv cocktail reception, I couldn’t wait to see what was in store. Cocktails + Moms + ABC = a great time, right?
It turned out to be a great time indeed! Take a look at the Moms of ABC that joined us that night:
Wendi McLendon-Covey of THE GOLDBERGS (@wendimcclendonco)
Amanda Fuller of LAST MAN STANDING (@amandafuller27)
Ming-Na Wen of MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. (@MingNa)
Patricia Heaton of THE MIDDLE (@PatriciaHeaton)
Frankie Shaw of MIXOLOGY (@frankishawisag)
Alexis Carra of MIXOLOGY (@alexiscarra)
Toks Olagundoye of THE NEIGHBORS (@ToksOlagundoye)
Jami Gertz of THE NEIGHBORS
Malin Akerman of TROPHY WIFE (@MalinAkerman)
We were told to expect a casual and comfortable afternoon of mixing and mingling with real-life moms and some who play “Mom” on tv. The description of the night fit perfectly, but I don’t know if I was fully prepared for the “casual or comfortable” part. I mean, I sat on a couch with Malin Akerman, hugged Patrica Heaton, drank a cocktail alongside Ming Na and took a selfie with Toks Olagundoye! …does it get any more casual than that?
It was interesting to hear the inner thoughts of these real-life Moms as they gave insights on their work, life and combining the two:
Ming-Na Wen shared stories on her role in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and questioned the future of “agents” as we know them. It was interesting to hear that even she has the same questions we’d like to ask producers, but has to wait for the right time to get answers!
Malin Akerman (Trophy Wife) shared stories about her baby boy, and we provided her with a few
warnings tips from experience.
Patricia Heaton (The Middle and Everybody Loves Raymond) sat down with us and shared stories on her tv roles. I may have also asked her to share insights on working with Sarah Drew (Greys Anatomy) in her upcoming film, Moms Night Out. (If you have not seen the film, to see it in theaters – fantastic!)
Jami Gertz from The Neighbors (The Lost Boys, Sixteen Candles) was adorable and sweet! She told us about the stress of motherhood and working and balancing the two. She was so down-to-earth as we sat down on the couch, listening to her stories and answering a few questions she had about us!
The cocktail hour was an unforgettable opportunity! These ladies are just as fantastic in person as they are in the characters you see on tv.
