A new seasonal menu at Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar has just launched, and we couldn’t wait to see what was in store for the summer!
If you’ve never been to Lazy Dog, let me set the scene: the inside of the restaurant is designed to feel like a Rocky Mountain Wyoming escape with log furnishings, cozy booths and ledge stone. Outside? A patio that is 100% dog-friendly! You’ll even find a dog menu and tables around a nice firepit. When we visited, there were at least 6 dogs outside, each enjoying the restaurant as much as their owner.
We tried some of the new Starters & Small Plates including Grizzly Fries and Street Corn Wheels. If you ask my favorite, I’m voting for the corn, but the fries had great flavor, too!
Grizzly Fries – Potato wedges, housemade secret sauce, crispy bacon, fried sweety drop peppers, smoked paprika
Street Corn Wheels – Lime, garlic, queso blanco, tajín, cilantro
Other starters include: Ancient Grains & Roasted Veggie Salad, Waffle-cut Potato Chips and Spicy Buffalo Chicken Lollipops!
Some of the new Dishes include the Fried Chicken Sandwich, the Fried Chicken Dinner and the Bison Burger. Each of these dishes were unique in their own way, and I’d definitely order the Bison Burger again!
Fried Chicken Sandwich – Hand-dipped buttermilk chicken, pimento cheese spread, fiery carrot slaw, pickled jalapenos, tomato, iceberg lettuce, brioche-style bun
Fried Chicken Dinner – Hand-dipped buttermilk chicken, red skin potato mash, white gravy, spiced maple syrup, sautéed bacon + spinach, roasted sweet corn wheels
Bison Burger – All-natural Durham Ranch grass-raised Wyoming bison, Havarti cheese, caramelized onion + bacon jam, field greens, tomatoes, mayo
Other selections include a Grilled Steak Salad, Charred Lemon Chicken and a Slow-braised Pork Shoulder that smelled incredible!
When the server asked if we were saving room for Dessert it was hard to say yes! The entrees were so good, but we managed to find more room for a bite or two (or three!)
The Warm Peach Crumble was amazing, and the perfect way to end the day. Imagine Brown sugar, oats and vanilla ice cream… Mmmm! It was just as good as it looks!
Lazy Dog also has a great bar, featuring five drinks that are great for a summer day! We ordered the Peaches & Moonshine, and I’m going to try to recreate this one at home! (Stillhouse Moonshine, sweet peaches, cranberry juice, Dekuyper Peach Schnapps, housemade ginger beer and mint. Sounds easy enough, right?)
There are 22 different Lazy Dog locations to choose from, with 3 in North Texas.
