I’ve mentioned before that I’m from Louisiana.  Obviously, there are plenty of days when I miss the fried fish, crawfish and fried shrimp.  It becomes a “thing” and once you get accustomed to having seafood all the time, your mouth waters when someone mentions the word. The struggle is real, and it took me a while to realize our Texas friends just don’t get it.

A few months ago, however, a restaurant opened in Burleson.  It bears the name “The Catch”, which definitely caught my attention when I drove by!  Sure enough, Texas caught on, and this was a seafood restaurant I couldn’t wait to visit.

Our experience was different than you’d expect.  From the service to the food, I knew we’d be back before we even left.  They get a huge thumbs up from our family.

Now there are so many reasons why you need to visit The Catch, and trust me when I say it took me a month to narrow this list down to 4:

The Seafood Platter
For about $20, you can get a platter of catfish, shrimp, crawfish, whitefish, oysters, chicken tenders, french fries and hush puppies!  And if that wasn’t a mouthful, try adding the restaurant’s house tarter sauce to kick things up a notch!  This platter is definitely enough to share – just look at it in the picture above!

The Fried Shrimp Tacos
For less than $10, I received (2) fried shrimp tacos, french fries and hush puppies.  The tacos have a nice hint of spice and went well with the margarita.  (I’ll get to that in a second, though.)

The Cheesy Grits
Normally, I wouldn’t think cajun and cheesy grits go together.  In south Louisiana, we save our grits for breakfast, but I hear it’s a thing to combine them with shrimp.  So, after hearing the manager tell me it’s a very popular item, I ordered a bowl.  And I understood why people eat cheesy grits for lunch and dinner, too.  The Catch offers a grits and gumbo special, which is great for starters or complimenting your entree!

Free Beer and Margaritas
You read that correctly.  Remember that margarita pictured with my shrimp tacos?  It was FREE!  Guests of The Catch can enjoy beer and margaritas any time of the day!  (It’s true!) We happened to be at The Catch while the playoffs were on tv, and my husband kept commenting on how this would be the perfect place to watch the game, drink a beer or two, and have an amazing dinner.  I couldn’t agree more!

The Catch also serves a variety of other items, including salads, po boys, boiled seafood and dessert.  (I can’t wait to go back to try the boiled crawfish!)  The service was great, as was the nautical themed decor, the atmosphere and the food.

The Catch is located at 1505 S.W. Wilshire Blvd. in Burleson, Texas.  (There are 7 locations in Texas.)  For more information, and to connect with The Catch, visit them online or on facebook.

I totally agree that free beer and margaritas any time of any day is one good reason to visit and return to your favorite seafood restaurant. When you can enjoy your clams, shrimp tacos, and bass with cold drinks on the house there is nothing else to ask for, is there? Our family is looking for a new place to eat and this might just be the best, yummy Valentine’s Day treat for the brothers and sisters! Ciao!
