the tenderloins

Last week, my husband and I went on an early Valentine’s Day date, since we save Valentine’s Day for something special with our children.  We went out to see The Tenderloins, which was perfect being Impractical Jokers is one of our favorite shows to watch on truTV.

We were excited for the night to come and headed to the Majestic Theater in Dallas to see how different the comedy/stand up performance would be from the tv show.

Sal, Q, Murr and Joe came out on stage and brought their stories with them.  We caught a glimpse of what it’s like behind-the-scenes of Impractical Jokers, watched their short video pitch that landed them the hilarious tv show and saw a few sides of Joe that I never expected.  Ok, I did expect it… you can’t put anything past these guys.  They come up with some wild and crazy, yet super funny content!

Natives of Staten Island, New York – Sal Vulcano, Joe Gatto, James Murray and Brian Quinn met while attending high school, and later formed The Tenderloins Comedy Troupe in 1999.

After years of performing live improv and sketch comedy shows in theatres, clubs and festivals across the country, The Tenderloins crossed over to the web, garnering millions of views for their Internet sketches. At the height of MySpace’s popularity, The Tenderloins were ranked #1 out of over 120,000 comedian accounts.

The Tenderloins are real, down to earth guys.  There is a reason they ranked #1.  They are what you see on tv… but obviously there is no editing a live show.  With that said, expect to be made fun of, expect lots of curse words and expect to nearly pee in your pants.  Seriously!  There were times when one would have to step off stage because he was laughing so hard.  There were other times where the four were bent over with laughter.  It is a great performance and makes for a fun night!

The Tenderloins will be on tour through June 27.  For tour dates, check out The Tenderloins online, on facebook and on twitter.

Disclosure:  I was provided with a pair of tickets to see The Tenderloins to facilitate this review.  No other compensation was received.  All opinions are my own, honest thoughts.
