On our recent trip to Disney World, we planned for a special (somewhat secret) event: Chip ‘N Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long at the Fort Wilderness Campground.
When we go to Disney World, we visit one park per day, eliminating the need for park hoppers if thoroughly planned. Since Animal Kingdom closes earlier than the other parks, that was our day to visit Fort Wilderness for some late afternoon fun.
We made our way to the campground, which was nice to see! I definitely want to stay there on a future visit! We saw decorated golf carts, parked RV’s and could smell the scent of a campfire nearby.
At the Sing-A-Long, we saw a big campfire, a stage and several sets of bleachers. There is also a small concession stand, selling drinks, popcorn, candy and s’more supplies! You can purchase a s’more kit ($10) or individual supplies: marshmallows, chocolate bars, graham crackers and roasting sticks. We purchased the s’more kit, which was more than enough for 5 people! *You can also bring your own items – don’t forget baby wipes!
After we roasted our marshmallows and indulged in delicious s’mores, we were greeted by a gentleman on stage who sang songs and told a few jokes.
He then introduced Chip and Dale, who walked around signing autographs and posing for pictures. Chip and Dale then lead everyone in dances like the Chicken Dance and the Hokey Pokey. It was great to have that “one on one” experience with the characters! In all, there were about 30 people in attendance (I told you it was a semi-secret event!), so the characters danced with almost every child there!
After the characters leave, they show a favorite Disney movie under the stars. We didn’t stay for this because we made our way to the Fort Wilderness beach (right nearby) to grab dinner and watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from Wishes over the water! You can also catch the Water Pageant right there, too!
This was definitely one of our most memorable nights of this Disney World trip! There is no cost to participate in the Chip and Dale campfire experience and no sign-up is required.
The Sing-A-Long is offered nightly and usually begins between 7 and 8 pm, so make sure you call Fort Wilderness ahead of time to confirm details.

I love that some of our favorite Disney experiences are absolutely FREE and not in the parks! While we’ve never done this one at Fort Wilderness, it looks like fun!!
