With the holidays right around the corner, I have a desire to start them a few months early. Two of my favorite fall foods and scents are long overdue: pumpkin and apples.
I could eat these two items year round, though they both seem more popular from September to November. But it’s August and I’m not waiting much longer to indulge in a little fall treat.
I came up with a way to make a quick and easy cinnamon apple recipe that can be microwaved in 2 short minutes. You can make this for one person or an entire family. You can thank me later.
(The recipe below is for one apple, so just adjust as needed.)
Ingredients:
- 1 apple
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter, softened
- a dash of cinnamon
Start by washing the outside of your apple with vinegar to get rid of germs and wax.
Core the center and take a light slice from the top.
Mix together the cinnamon, sugar, and butter, then add it into the center of the apple and spread it on the top. You can add a little more cinnamon, too.
In a microwave safe bowl, heat the apple for 2 minutes. Microwave times may vary, so check the apple to make sure it’s soft.
When it’s done, it will be hot! I mean HOT! So use caution when removing from the microwave. After the apple cools for a minute, spoon some of the cinnamon sugar mixture back onto the top of the apple. I like to slice the apple up, then stir everything together before serving.
